High-Functioning Anxiety Therapy in Austin, Texas & Colorado

Anxiety doesn’t have to be in the driver’s seat.

Let’s be real, anxiety sucks

It’s uncomfortable and just barges in without knocking. When you’re dealing with high-functioning anxiety, it can feel like you're constantly on the go, fueled by that inner voice telling you you’re not enough or worthy unless you’re doing more.

You might look calm, cool, and collected on the outside (I mean, duh, you always do!), but inside you’re spiraling.

You finally sit down at the end of the day, but your mind won’t stop racing, and neither does that buzzing in your body. Maybe your chest is tight, your heart’s pounding, or your thoughts won’t quit.

So you scroll, snack, pour a glass of wine, or start another to-do list…ANYTHING to avoid the discomfort.

What does high-functioning anxiety look like?

High-functioning anxiety is sneaky because it’s not always outwardly loud like a panic attack or meltdown. It looks like - I can get everything done, but I can never seem to sit and chill for a second. You’re the one everyone leans on for support, while inside, you’re quietly falling apart and dying for someone to ask how you're really doing.

  • It’s the constant overthinking.

  • The guilt that shows up when you finally try to rest.

  • The pressure to keep it all together because if you don’t, no one else will.

You probably hear things like, “You’re so calm,” or “I don’t know how you do it.” Meanwhile, your brain is running a mile a minute, your body’s buzzing with stress, and you’re wondering if you’ll ever feel actually okay. You’re probably also asking yourself, “Am I doing enough?” or “Why can’t I just relax?”

If any of this resonates with you and you're thinking, “That’s me!” you’re definitely not alone. I’ve been there, and I know change is possible.

I’m here for you.

You’re allowed to slow down and speak up for what you need.

When you’re living with anxiety, everything can feel all-or-nothing, urgent, and entirely on you to figure out. You might look like you’ve got it all together, but only you know that you’re replaying every conversation, second-guessing your choices, and finding it nearly impossible to relax.

In therapy for high-functioning anxiety, we’ll slow it down and start to gently challenge those patterns. I’ll help you make space for nuance (not just black-and-white thinking) and teach you how to meet yourself with more compassion. You’ll learn tools to manage the spirals, spend more time in your body instead of stuck in your head, sit with uncertainty, and feel more grounded even when life feels messy.

Feel familiar?

You’re constantly chasing the next thing, but never feel like it’s enough

You say “yes” when you want to say “hell no,” then resent it

You wish the overthinking spirals would just shut up already

You feel more successful at work then you do in your personal life

Here’s what we’ll do together

Therapy for anxiety that helps build trust in yourself, knowing you can be uncomfortable and still be okay.

Listen, anxiety therapy can be HARD. You’ll be asked to sit in your discomfort and face the stuff that usually sends you into overthinking, panic, or avoidance. But with gentle support beside you, you’ll learn how to stay present in those moments when your brain wants to run, and teach your body that discomfort doesn’t have to mean danger…that the scary thing doesn’t have to feel so scary.

We’ll use mindfulness and grounding skills in a way that actually works in real life and feels approachable, not just breathing exercises or “try meditation” every time you get anxious. You’ll learn how to slow down, notice what’s happening in your body, and ride out emotions without spiraling or shutting down.

The goal isn’t to avoid hard feelings altogether, but to build trust that you can handle them without needing every coping skill in your toolbox. As you practice, you’ll start to feel more confident in your ability to stay present…yes, even when things feel uncertain.

What therapy for high-functioning anxiety looks like:

I specialize in therapy for high-functioning anxiety and use a blend of evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches to help you actually feel better, not just talk about your stress for an hour a week (but we can do that too!).

Depending on your needs, we might use:

We’ll collaborate every step of the way, moving at a pace that feels safe, sustainable, and still gets things done.

When all is said and done, here’s the thing:

Anxiety can actually begin to make sense once you learn to work through it, not against it.

What we’ll work on

Imagine a life where…

01 you feel less stuck and stressed out

You’re no longer constantly spinning your wheels and can balance getting things done and real, helpful rest without the guilt.

02 you can feel confident in your decisions

Stop overthinking every choice and second-guessing yourself; instead, trust that you can handle the uncertainties without spiraling into mental turmoil or constantly seeking reassurance.

03 you have the space & time to figure out what you want

You finally get to focus on what you want - not just what everyone expects from you - and reconnect with what makes you feel like you.

You don’t have to keep pushing through. I’ll help you get there.

FAQs

  • You might look like you’ve got it all together on the outside - successful, organized, reliable - but inside, you’re spinning. Constant overthinking, trouble relaxing, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and an inner voice that won’t let up are all signs. If you’re “doing the most” and still don’t feel like enough, therapy can help.

  • This isn’t surface-level advice like “just breathe.” We’ll work on calming your nervous system, shifting how you relate to pressure and self-worth, and getting underneath the patterns that are keeping you stuck. I use EMDR, parts work, and somatic tools to create deep, lasting change.

  • Yes! High-functioning anxiety often hides behind success and insight. You know you’re overthinking and pushing too hard, you just don’t know how to stop. Therapy gives you the space and tools to feel safe, slow down, and start feeling like yourself again (without losing your edge).

  • Not at all. Many of my clients are thriving in some ways and struggling quietly in others. You don’t need to wait until you’re crashing to get support. Therapy is about creating a life that feels sustainable, not just “fine.”

  • Nope. This work isn’t about making you less driven, it’s about helping you feel less driven by fear. You get to stay ambitious and feel more grounded, present, and connected along the way.

  • That’s valid. Not every therapist or approach is the right fit. If you’ve done talk therapy and still feel stuck, we might try something deeper - like EMDR or nervous system work - to help you actually feel the change, not just talk about it.
