EMDR Therapy in Austin, Texas & Colorado

You’re ready for a new approach to therapy.

You’ve tried all the things, but you still feel anxious, exhausted, tense, overwhelmed…and alone. You’re craving a life that feels grounded and clear, not ruled by old patterns. The kind of thing other people have, but you’ve never quite felt it for yourself. Or maybe you’re not even sure what’s wrong, just that something feels off, and you barely recognize yourself anymore.

You’ve always been the one who holds it all together, but lately, even that feels like too much. And when you finally do slow down, the racing thoughts, tight chest, and pressure to “just keep going” come rushing back in.

Trauma doesn’t always look obvious.

It can show up in sneaky, confusing ways...through anxiety, over-functioning, people-pleasing, or emotional shutdown. You might feel scared to tell your story because you don’t know what will happen if you do. Maybe you’ve tried before, but the emotions or body sensations got too intense, and it felt safer to shut it all down.

When you’ve lived through hard things, it can feel like you’ve lost control - like you’re constantly reaching outside yourself just to feel okay, desperate for a sense of safety. EMDR offers a way back to yourself.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-backed therapy that helps your brain and body safely process trauma without having to talk through every detail. One foot in, one foot out. Supported. Regulated. Empowered.

EMDR therapy can help you get to the root of what’s keeping you stuck

  • EMDR therapy is a research-based, trauma-informed approach that helps your brain process and release the stuck patterns at the root of anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional pain so you’re not just managing symptoms, you’re actually healing them.

When we go through something overwhelming or traumatic, our brains don’t always file those memories away properly. Instead, it holds onto them like the threat is still happening—triggering intense emotions, body sensations, or unhelpful patterns long after the moment has passed.

EMDR therapy helps your brain reprocess those memories in a safe, supportive way so they feel less intense and more like something that happened, not something you're still living through.

This shift allows your nervous system to finally relax when it needs to, and helps you respond to present-day life with more confidence.

  • Using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping), EMDR activates both sides of your brain to support this natural healing process.

And the best part? You don’t have to go into every single detail of what happened. EMDR lets us work with what’s coming up now – aka those anxious spirals, the tightness in your chest, the constant sense of urgency - and help your nervous system finally chill the 'ef out.

  • A lot of my clients love EMDR therapy because it doesn’t require talking the whole time, and it often works faster than traditional talk therapy.

    Benefits of EMDR therapy:

    • Feel more grounded and less reactive

    • Trust yourself and your decisions

    • Stop overthinking everything

    • Reconnect with who you are underneath the pressure and self-doubt

    • EMDR helps with anxiety, trauma, and self-trust

You don’t have to keep powering through. EMDR therapy can help you feel like yourself again

Ultimately, what matters most is this:

Healing isn’t about “doing more,” it’s about doing it differently.

Is EMDR right for you?

EMDR therapy is a good fit if you…

  • You’ve talked it to death, but it’s still bumping up against you.

  • You overthink everything, even stuff that “shouldn’t” bother you anymore.

  • You avoid certain places, people, or feelings without totally knowing why.

  • Your body feels anxious even when your brain says you're “fine.”

  • You’ve had big or small T trauma and don’t want to relive it through endless retelling.

  • You’re exhausted from holding it all together but scared to let go.

  • You feel like you’re always on edge and just want to feel like yourself again.

  • You’re ready to go deeper than coping skills and get to the root.

What we’ll work on

With EMDR therapy, you can…

…begin to untangle the past from your present.

EMDR therapy helps with:

  • Reducing the emotional charge behind painful or overwhelming memories

  • Shifting unhelpful beliefs like “I’m not good enough” or “I have to be perfect”

  • Helping your nervous system relearn what safety and calm actually feel like

It’s also about creating space for you to feel:

  • More grounded and regulated

  • More confident in yourself and your choices

  • More at home in your body, even when life feels like one big question mark

You deserve to feel safe in your own body again and actually trust what it’s telling you.

Questions?

FAQs

  • Nope. That’s one of the best parts of EMDR. You don’t have to give a play-by-play of what happened. EMDR works by helping your brain reprocess memories internally, so you can heal without needing to relive every painful detail out loud.

  • It’s different for everyone, but most people describe it as emotionally intense in an approachable but productive way. You’ll be guided and supported the whole time, and we’ll go at a pace that feels right for you. You might notice emotions, memories, or body sensations come up, but I’ll be right there to help you stay grounded.

  • Yes. You don’t need a significant, obvious trauma to benefit from EMDR. It can help with chronic stress, anxiety, people-pleasing, self-doubt, and those sneaky little moments that add up over time and make you feel unsafe or “not enough.” If something is still bothering you, EMDR can help make sense of it.

  • Totally! The process remains the same, but it's accessed through a computer or tablet. The assessment process will determine your own unique appropriateness for online EMDR (as with any intervention). It is essential to communicate how you are feeling during the process, as there may be some body language cues that cannot be communicated online. Bilateral stimulation has been adapted to the computer screen, and your choice of method will be discussed.
