EMDR therapy in Austin, Texas & Colorado
You’re ready for a new approach to therapy.
You’ve tried all the things but you still feel anxious, exhausted, tense, overwhelmed…and alone. You’re craving calm and clarity. The kind other people talk about or write about in books but you’ve never quite felt it for yourself. Or maybe you’re not even sure what’s wrong, just that something feels off, and you barely recognize yourself anymore.
You’ve always been the one who holds it all together but lately, even that feels like too much. And when you finally do slow down, the racing thoughts, tight chest, and pressure to “just keep going” come rushing in.
Trauma can show up in sneaky, confusing ways. You might feel scared to tell your story because you don’t know what will happen if you do. Maybe you’ve tried before, but the emotions or body sensations got too intense, and it felt safer to shut it all down.
When you’ve lived through hard things, it can feel like you’ve lost control—like you’re constantly reaching outside yourself just to feel okay, desperate for a sense of safety. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) offers a way back to yourself. It’s a way to process what happened without having to retell every detail. One foot in, one foot out. Safe. Supported. Empowered.
EMDR therapy can help you get to the root of what’s keeping you stuck
-
EMDR is a research-backed therapy that helps your brain process and release the stuff that’s keeping you stuck. When we go through something overwhelming or traumatic, our brains don’t always file those memories away properly, so they keep showing up in the present like the threat is still happening. EMDR helps your brain reprocess those memories so they feel less intense and more like something that happened, not something you're still living through.
-
Using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping), EMDR activates both sides of your brain to support this natural healing process. And the best part? You don’t have to go into every single detail of what happened. EMDR lets us work with what’s coming up now – aka those anxious spirals, the tension in your chest, the constant sense of urgency - and help your nervous system finally chill the ef out.

A lot of my clients love EMDR because it doesn’t require talking the whole time, and it often works faster than traditional talk therapy. It’s a powerful way to untangle what’s been holding you back so you can feel more grounded, more in control, and more like yourself again.
Ultimately, what matters most is this:
Healing isn’t about “doing more,” it’s about doing it differently.
Is EMDR right for you?
EMDR is a good fit for you if you…
You’ve talked about the same issue in therapy but still feel stuck.
You overthink everything, even stuff that “shouldn’t” bother you anymore.
You avoid certain places, people, or feelings without totally knowing why.
Your body feels anxious even when your brain says you're “fine.”
You’ve had big or small T trauma and don’t want to relive it through endless retelling.
You’re exhausted from holding it all together but scared to let go.
You feel like you’re always on edge and just want to feel like yourself again.
You’re ready to go deeper than coping skills and get to the root.
What we’ll work on
With EMDR, you can…
Start to untangle the past from your present. We’ll work on reducing the emotional charge behind painful memories, shifting stuck beliefs (like “I’m not good enough” or “I have to be perfect”), and helping your nervous system learn what safety feels like again. Together, we’ll create space for you to feel more grounded, confident, and at home in your body, even when the future feels like one big question mark.

You deserve to feel safe in your own body again and actually trust what it’s telling you.

Nope. That’s one of the best parts of EMDR. You don’t have to give a play-by-play of what happened. EMDR works by helping your brain reprocess memories internally, so you can heal without needing to relive every painful detail out loud.

It’s different for everyone, but most people describe it as emotionally intense in a good, approachable but productive way. You’ll be guided and supported the whole time, and we’ll go at a pace that feels right for you. You might notice emotions, memories, or body sensations come up, but I’ll be right there to help you stay grounded.

Yes. You don’t need a big, obvious trauma to benefit from EMDR. It can help with chronic stress, anxiety, people-pleasing, self-doubt, and those sneaky little moments that added up over time and made you feel unsafe or “not enough.” If something is still bothering you, EMDR can help make sense of it.

Totally! The process is the same only through the computer or tablet. The assessment process will determine your own unique appropriateness for online EMDR (as with any intervention). It is important to communicate how you are feeling during the process as there may be some body language cues that cannot be communicated online. Bilateral stimulation has been adapted to the computer screen and your choice of method will be discussed.
