You don’t have the time to devote to weekly therapy sessions
Instead of spreading therapy over months, EMDR intensives allow you to focus on your healing in a more concentrated format, often condensing what would be several weeks of therapy into just a few days or sessions. What is an intensive?
An EMDR Intensive is an accelerated form of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy that offers accelerated health for trauma & anxiety.
Unlike traditional weekly sessions, an intensive offers concentrated treatment over a shorter period, typically 3-5 days. This focused approach is tailored to your specific goalsallows for rapid progress in processing and healing from traumatic experiences or pains from the past. Processing is tailored to your specific goals
To prepare, we will meet for a Pre-Intensive Interview to clarify your goals for the Intensive, identify your support system and how you with stress, and identify specific targets for our work together. This will help give me all the information I need to best support you.
During an EMDR intensive, you will engage in multiple EMDR sessions each day in order to:
Help your past pains feel less painful
Strengthen the things things that are more helpful and make you feel good
This concentrated exposure helps your brain process traumatic memories more efficiently.
This leads to a significant reduction in symptoms like anxiety, depression, and nightmares.
It's important to note that while EMDR intensives offer rapid results, they are not a one-size-fits-all solution
We might focus most on early life experiences, specific traumatic events, triggers in your current life, or how you envision meeting challenges in your future. The process is entirely customized and specific to you.
After the Intensive, we’ll meet for a Post-Intensive Interview to reflect on your most powerful takeaways and to discuss incorporating the growth that you’ve seen into your life.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) works by helping the brain process traumatic memories through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation. During a session, a therapist guides you in recalling distressing memories while simultaneously engaging in eye movements, sounds, or taps, which helps the brain reprocess and integrate the memory in a healthier way. Over time, the emotional intensity of the memory decreases, allowing you to heal from past trauma and move forward with greater emotional resilience.
-
Intensives differ from regular therapy by offering a concentrated and focused approach, allowing for deeper work to be accomplished in a shorter period of time.
